Our Dancescene children’s classes open your child’s eyes to the ‘joy of dance’, the fun and drama of performance while nurturing the development of musical appreciation. Using the Royal Academy of Dancing (RAD) syllabus as an excellent framework we have incorporated greater accent on the linkages of movement and music to ensure that your child is exposed to a more comprehensive and freer approach to music and dance.
Dancing is a wonderful medium for self-expression. Encouraging musicality, poise and self-confidence, dance is great fun as well as being an artistic physical discipline. The philosophy behind Dancescene is to actively engage children in dance without making classes overly formal or serious. Dancescene jazz and hip-hop classes in particular, provide an ideal forum for children to confidently express their choreographic ideas in the formulation of new dance routines
Performance is a rewarding and much anticipated part of the Dancescene programme and the annual Dancescene recital introduces children to the fun of the theatre while presenting the opportunity for all students to perform on stage for supportive families and friends.
Dancescene provides dance tuition by expertly training professionals, for children from 3 yrs through to young adults of 20 yrs, in classical ballet, jazz, contemporary dance, and hip-hop. Wonderful Adult Ballet & Ballet for Seniors (60yrs+) classes too!

Both my two daughters are attending Dancescene ballet classes, and have been for a few years, Lisa is great with the girls and a good instructor. In September there is a concert which is nice, not so much of the formalities of other schools, a video of the night can be purchased after. Occasionally lessons are missed due to covid and zoom is used where possible.

Ballet for Alzheimer’s classes
are a ballet inspired movement experience created by Lisa Purchas for people with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) or Early Stage Alzheimer’s Disease. A person will Alzheimer’s Disease gains as many benefits from a regular exercise programme as anybody else, including improved cardio vascular fitness, endurance and strength.
Our Ballet 4 You programme is designed to focus on balance, postural improvement and the use of the body and brain in simple cross-lateral sequences. Participants can do each exercise at a regular pace, slower pace or seated, depending how they feel on any given day.
Classes are conducted privately at the Claremont Studio and each participant dances to their own bespoke music playlist. See here for more information.
